The client of this project, XX Shoe Factory in Xinxiang, Henan, is a modern enterprise with a considerable scale and a complete shoe-making industry chain in the local area. Xinxiang, Henan Province is located in the Central Plains, with a geographical location that has shifted towards the north. It belongs to a typical warm temperate continental monsoon climate with four distinct seasons: although the summer is hot, compared with the humid and hot southern regions, it has more dry and hot weather, and the relative humidity of the air is lower. This climate characteristic is precisely the natural advantage that evaporative air coolers can achieve the best performance (air coolers use water evaporation to cool down, and the cooling effect is more significant in relatively dry climates). However, the hot and humid weather in the local summer still seriously affects the comfort and production efficiency of workers.
It is worth mentioning that Henan has successfully transformed from a traditional labor export province to an economic powerhouse that undertakes industrial transfer and achieves "employment at the doorstep". Enterprises like XX Shoe Factory are a successful example of "attracting enterprises to Henan and digesting labor locally", providing a large number of stable employment opportunities for the local area.
The shoe factory has a complete shoe-making production process, covering all core links from raw material cutting, needle sewing, shoe upper and sole fitting assembly, to final quality inspection and finished product packaging. The area that requires ventilation and cooling renovation this time is a newly built large flat reinforced concrete structure standard factory building, which poses significant challenges to our design plan
1. Spacious: With a single floor area of over 18000 square meters, it is a typical industrial factory with a super large space.
2. Super high floor height: With a floor height of up to 12 meters, the air conditioning of ordinary air conditioners cannot sink at all, and the cooling effect is minimal.
3. Structural limitations: Although the wall is equipped with glass windows for natural lighting, relying solely on natural ventilation cannot solve the problem of internal heat and exhaust gas accumulation.
4. Complex working conditions: involving multiple functional areas such as cutting workshop, needle assembly line workshop, bonding assembly workshop, quality inspection packaging workshop, etc., with high personnel density, and harmful gases and heat dissipation in the bonding area.
Ruifeng Customized Solution
Faced with the multiple challenges mentioned above, the design personnel of Ruifeng Environmental Protection Refrigeration went deep into the site, combined with the local climate in Xinxiang, the ultra-high spatial structure of the factory, the dense distribution of personnel, and the different production process requirements of each workshop, to tailor a "combination fist" style ventilation and cooling solution for the customer.
1. Core cooling: high-power evaporative air cooler+long-distance long air duct system
Considering the large workshop area and dense personnel, we abandoned traditional fans with limited effectiveness and chose high-power evaporative air coolers with long air supply distance and high air volume. Based on the principles of physics and the natural phenomenon of water evaporation absorbing heat, the outdoor fresh air is cooled down. Through carefully designed long air ducts and multiple vents, the cool, humid, and fresh air is accurately delivered to each worker's work site. This "fixed-point air supply" method can effectively solve the problem of poor air flow in ultra large spaces, allowing employees to feel the cool breeze brushing their faces at all times.
2. Installation strategy: Wall mounted hanging installation, not occupying valuable floor space
In response to the characteristics of multiple production equipment and large material stacking area in the workshop, we innovatively adopted a wall mounted hanging installation. Install the main unit of the air cooler on the exterior wall of the workshop, and only introduce cold air into the room through the air duct. This design occupies zero workshop floor area and does not affect the production line or material placement, returning valuable production space to the enterprise.
3. Exhaust gas and heat dissipation: matched with negative pressure fan to form a healthy airflow ventilation system
In order to completely eliminate the harmful gases generated by the bonding process and the heat generated by equipment and personnel accumulation, we simultaneously installed a negative pressure fan that matches the air exchange rate of the air cooler. By using a negative pressure fan to force exhaust, a strong airflow organization of "fresh air pushing old air" is formed in the workshop, forming a complete path from intake to exhaust, ensuring that harmful gases and heat have no dead corners or residues, and keeping the workshop air fresh and healthy at all times.
Why choose the "Ruifeng solution" instead of "industrial air conditioning"
At first, the factory considered installing industrial air conditioners with dehumidification function. Regarding this, professionals from Ruifeng conducted a thorough analysis: although the new factory building has good sealing and is theoretically suitable for air conditioning, it must be based on the actual operating costs of the customer.
1. Comparison of physical principles: Industrial air conditioning uses refrigerant circulation for internal heat exchange, which is an "internal circulation" cooling process that requires closing doors and windows tightly. After prolonged operation, indoor air quality may actually decrease. And the evaporative air cooler we use is an "external circulation" ventilation cooling system, which continuously sends fresh outdoor air into the room after washing and cooling, maintaining the freshness of the air at all times.
2. Economic cost analysis: Against the backdrop of the current generally thin profit margins in the domestic footwear industry, the high one-time equipment investment and astonishing post production electricity and maintenance costs of industrial air conditioning will bring huge economic burdens to enterprises. And our plan has an initial investment of only one-third or even lower than that of air conditioning, with operating energy consumption as low as one-fifth.

Comprehensive benefits: Although the cooling effect of fan products cannot be as "refreshing" as air conditioning, through scientific design, the workshop temperature is controlled within a comfortable range for the human body, combined with strong ventilation and air exchange capabilities, greatly improving the workers' physical comfort. Employees are no longer irritable or exhausted due to the hot and humid weather, and their work focus and production efficiency have been significantly improved, resulting in a corresponding decrease in personnel turnover rate.
